Indian Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu Clinches Gold at Asian Weightlifting Championships

Indian weightlifting sensation Mirabai Chanu continued her streak of excellence by winning a gold medal in the women’s 49kg category at the Asian Weightlifting Championships. Chanu lifted a combined total of 205kg, with 89kg in snatch and 116kg in clean and jerk, securing the top spot on the podium.

The 28-year-old athlete from Manipur has been a consistent performer on the international stage and her victory in Seoul adds to her impressive list of achievements. This win is particularly significant as it boosts her confidence and rankings ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Mirabai Chanu, an Olympic silver medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Games, demonstrated remarkable composure and strength throughout the competition. Her performance was met with cheers and applause from the audience, reflecting her popularity and the expectations riding on her.
