Indian Women’s Cricket Team Wins Historic Gold at Asian Games 2023

The Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning their first-ever gold medal at the Asian Games 2023. In a nail-biting final match held at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field, India triumphed over Sri Lanka by 19 runs, showcasing their dominance in the sport.

The Indian team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the tournament. In the final, India batted first and posted a competitive total of 152 for 8 in their 20 overs, thanks to a crucial half-century by Smriti Mandhana and a quickfire 35 by Jemimah Rodrigues. The Indian bowlers then put on a clinical performance, restricting Sri Lanka to 133 for 7, with Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar taking key wickets.
